THE IMPORTANCE OF SEATBELT
PURPOSE:
TO HOLD THE PASSENGER IN PLACE IN THE CASE OF A COLLISION

1. A seatbelt has two parts. The first part rests over the passenger's pelvis and the second part rests over the shoulder and across the chest. When the car stops abruptly the seatbelt applies the stopping force across a large section of the body so the damage is reduced.

2. The seatbelt holds back passengers from flying through the air.

3. Seatbelts are made of flexible materials which have more give then a dashboard or windshield would have.

4. Seatbelts are designed so that the machinery behind them tightens up the belt to hold the passenger in place when the car decelerates quickly.

5. It is also the importance of wearing seatbelts in the rear of the car, when in a collision, you not only greatly increase your chance of getting injured but you also carry the risk of injuring or killing the person sitting in front of you.

6. Air bags are not a replacement for seatbelts. They are designed to be used in conjunction with seatbelts.
Replacement of faulty seat belts is not expensive in comparison to the damage caused if they are not effective.
